When Samsung announced that it will release the Samsung Galaxy S8 in March 2017, the market was thrown into a frenzy. For the first quarter of 2016, Samsung sold 13.3 million units of Galaxy S7 Edge and commanded a whopping 2.3% share of all Android phones. However, the release of iPhone 7 brought a new twist into the market which made Samsung go back to the drawing board. Now, the flagship Samsung S8 is ready for release and the market cannot wait for this priceless piece. Here is a complete review of what to expect and why you need to buy it after release.
The Galaxy S8 Display
The mysterious outlook of the Galaxy S7 Edge has been improved to include the dual-curved edges and deliver a super wide 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The curvy appearance on S8 will redefine what really makes a smartphone because it has removed the Home Button. Instead, it has adopted the slimmer bezels located above and below the tall display.
Just like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the new S8 will be available in two sizes, the S8 (5.8-inch display) and S8 Plus (6.2-inch display). Both S8 and S8 Plus will come with the best Quad HD resolution for great viewership. This will make the new smartphone among the best for watching videos.
The smartphone design
When Samsung released the previous S6 and S7 models, it stuck to the attractive glass and metal designs. While these designs have been very effective by creating a special attachment to users, some refinements have been introduced. The shot that users can scroll through is visible on navigation keys. Besides, tiny bezels, volume, and power keys are visible on one side of the display.
Having done away with the physical button, Samsung has added the finger sensor on the real. The sensor is, however, next to the camera and off the centre. The user will need to get used to reaching the sensor as if checking for the camera.
The S8 will be curvier and slicker which makes it extra comfortable holding on the hand. The S8 dimension of 148.9x68x8 millimetres will make it slightly bigger compared to the S7 Edge, even with a larger screen.
The rear camera
Just like the Galaxy S7, Samsung has worked so hard to include a stronger camera on the Galaxy S8. Being aware of the recent iPhone 7 enhanced camera design, the new Galaxy S8 has a 12 MP rear camera with software enhancement. This enhancement will make it to perfectly capture even images in motion and those in poorly lit conditions. However, the famed camera combo did not materialize to get included in the latest S8.
The Galaxy S8 Operating System
As expected, Samsung Galaxy S8 has been built on the latest and fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. It is smaller, more efficient, and faster compared to the previous Snapdragon 820. It will also come with a large RAM OF 4GB for faster processing.
Other unique features on the S8 include
The Galaxy S8 will come with the lovely S Pen stylus and a continuum feature for plugging into the desktop like the Microsoft Lumia. Other features include an iris scanner, microSD card slot, and a mini projector. After Samsung bought Siri, the Samsung S8 will be the first smartphone to have the Viv Assistant.
