The smartphone world is evolving rather fast. In 2017 alone, the competition to win a bigger market share saw the evolution from feature-based phones to advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence. From the irresistible Samsung Galaxy S8 to the highly advanced iPhone X, the stage for future mobile phones has been set. Therefore, what should you expect in 2018?
Samsung Galaxy S9
Samsung was rattled when its top rival, Apple, released the latest iPhone x. Now, Samsung is working on its flagship Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus with some of the most advanced features. The new devices will include AI assisted fingerprint scanner to close the gap with iPhone X. The lenses on the new galaxies will be placed horizontally but with enhancements to make them look more appealing than what was in Samsung Galaxy S8 Note.
The S9 is expected to have 7nm Snapdragon 845 or 8nm 9810 processor and more than 4GB of RAM. But the design is not anticipated to change much from that of S8 model in the market today. It will be very interesting to see how the new Samsung will counter the latest iPhone 8.
Apple’s iPhone (s)
When Apple recently released iPhone 8, it demonstrated the zeal to take the iPhone technology to another level. The company is readying to take the innovation to the next level with new variants of iPhone X. It is expected to release three versions of iPhone X in 2018 to make the phone more affordable.
One of the iPhone X variants is expected to feature an LCD-TFT display as opposed to the advanced OLED in the original iPhone X. This means that the price will come down significantly. This variant will also have lower resolution, 6.1-inch screen, and a great screen. The other two variants will have 5.8 inch OLED screen and 6.5-inch OLED screen respectively.
Google Pixel 3
Google has increased its pace of designing high-end smartphones with regular releases such as Pixel 2. Now, it plans to take the competition right into the quarters of the top phone giants, Apple and Samsung with new releases. In October 2018, Google targets to release three versions of Pixel 3 that targets to rival iPhone X. The three phones going by the codes Blueline, Albacore, and Crosshatch, are pure Android devices running on the latest Android 9.0 P and featuring 7nm Snapdragon 845 processor.
LG has not been around for some time since the release of the LG G6. Now, they have indicated that the LG G7 is ready and could be launched early in 2018. The new LG G7 has particularly excited the market because LG is reported to be working with Qualcomm and the LG G7 could be the first device to feature the latest Snapdragon 845 Processor.
